JUNIOR HANDLER RULES
Jan. 2, 2012
Rules for Junior Class effictive January 1st. 2012.
RULE CLARIFICATION
Feb. 17, 2011
Gambler rule clarification,effective IMMEDIATELY (Feb. 17, 2011):
Once the gamble whistle blows, the gamble line becomes live and the handler is required to stay behind theline, even if the dog has not yet begun
the closing sequence. If the handler is inside the gamble area when the whistle blows, the handler must leave the gamble area immediately.
Challenge Class Rules: Beginning January 1st 2011
Challenge will be moved from the games stream to the standard stream and dogs with clean runs under time can earn either a Challenge Q or a masters standard
Q, as outlined below:
- If the dog runs clean and under the SCT set by the fastest clean run in that height category, the dog will earn a Challenge Q, which can be applied
to the AAC Challenge titles or to any post-ATChC titles, as part of the required standard legs.
- If the dog runs clean and under the target time, but not under the SCT as set by the fastest clean run in that height category, the dog will earn
a masters standard Q, which can be applied to their MADC and ATChC titles, as well as post-ATChC titles, as part of the required standard legs.
Challenge Class Rules: Amended August/October 2010
Motion 100813: Moved that the challenge class move from games to standard.
Motion 100814: Moved that a dog eligible to compete in Masters Standard may earn a Masters Standard Q in Masters Challenge if they
run clean and under their Masters Challenge target time but not under the Challenge course time as determined by the fastest clean run x 1.2 in each height
category.
Motion 101006: Moved that we drop the “Q” requirements for the Challenge title from 10 to 5.
Challenge Class Rules: Amended June and July 2009
Three AAC Board motions passed at the end of June and July 2009, will be applied to the Challenge Class.
Motion 090604: The maximum course time for the Challenge Class has been set at 1.5 minutes.
Motion 090605: For the Challenge Class only, obstacle repetition (training) will result in immediate dismissal. The purpose of this
class is to test the handlers’ agility skills at the highest levels and as there is no set SCT training should not be allowed.
Motion 090704: That, effective immediately, judges will be required to establish a “Target Course Time” for Challenge using the Masters
Standard yards-per-second range and based on the measurements provided by the course design software, and that if any dog in a particular height class/division
runs clean and beats the Target Course Time, his time multiplied by 1.2 becomes the standard course time for that class.
Challenge Class Course Guidelines.
Purpose: The purpose of the Challenge class is to provide a class that tests the handling skills as well as the speed of the
agility team. The level of this class is to reflect a similarity to World Level courses in its difficulty and handling requirements. This class is to be
judged by a Masters level judge.
Eligibility: Only those dogs competing in AAC Masters Standard class are eligible to enter Challenge.
Method of Play: The dog and handler team must navigate the course as set by the Judge.
Scoring: All the current AAC Masters Standard Performance Rules shall apply with the exception of the table performance.
The dog's position on the table is optional as long as the dog stays on the table, (can be a sit, down, standing or moving or any combination), the 5 second
count starts as soon as all 4 feet are on the table. If the dog leaves the table before completion of the 5 second count, the regular penalties apply.
Course Time and Qualifying: Course time is based on the fastest clean run time in each jump height in each division. Teams
finishing within or equal to a 1.2 multiplication of that fastest time in each jump height will qualify. Times will be rounded up or down to the closest
second decimal place.
Example: Fastest clean run time in that division and height: 45.23. The SCT for that height will be set at: 45.23 x 1.2 = 54.276. This
rounds off to: SCT 54.28
All dogs running in that division and height with a clean run and within that SCT, earn a Qualifying score. Regardless if there is a pause table on
course, the SCT calculation is 1.2 times the fastest clean run course time for that height.

Team Relay Now a Single Level Class
January 1, 2010
At its July meeting, the Board opted to make Team Relay a single level class open to all dogs and allowing for pairing of dogs at any level and division.
The original thought was to have team follow a title structure similar to that in place for Steeplechase. Subsequent discussion, however, resulted in a
lowering of those requirements to parallel the higher-level titles in place for the other games.
The result is the following;
- MTRDC requires: four Masters Team Qs
(team Qs earned at the Masters level prior to January 1st. and/or at the
single-level after January 1st.)
- Team Relay Bronze, 10 Team Qs
- Team Relay Silver, 25 Team Qs
- Team Relay Gold, 50 Team Qs
Starters and Advanced team Qs earned prior to January 1st., count toward the bronze, silver and gold levels but not the MTRDC.
