AAC World Team Managers Appointed
I am very pleased to announce that the Board has approved the appointment of Nina Durante of Port Coquitlam, BC, as the Assistant Manager of the 2010 World Team.
As has previously been made known, both the team and the Board are thrilled to have Tracy Sklenar back in the role of Team Manager, a position she held to great acclaim in 2008.
Congratulations are due to both Tracy and Nina, but also to the team and the Association for having such a great pool of applicants from which to choose two enthusiastic and extremely competent managers.
Kathryn
AAC World Team Managers
England awaits!
If you're supremely organized, graceful under pressure and up for a little adventure, consider applying for the position of AAC World Team Manager.
The Board has recently approved the appointment of both a manager and an assistant manager to accompany the team to England in May for the IFCS World Agility Championships. The two jobs will be filled from the same pool of applicants, and duties will be split between the two jobs in accordance with the skills, experience and preferences of the two top applicants.
Duties will include:
- assisting the team with all aspects of preparation, including: making travel arrangements and complying with health/veterinary requirements;
- acting as liaison between team members, event officials, and the AAC Board;
- assisting team members with selecting and acquiring uniforms and other gear;
- coordinating the fundraising campaign and working with the AAC's Financial Services Officer in the management of income and expenses;
- coordinating remote coaching and other preparatory exercises;
- at the event, supporting team members in a variety of ways;
- generally being the go-to person for the team.
Experience with international travel requirements and bureaucracy, great communication and people skills, and a flexible schedule will all be considered assets.
These are volunteer positions; however, the AAC will cover travel costs and a small per diem for meals. Both the manager and assistant manager will share in funds raised by the team. In past years, fundraising has successfully covered virtually all additional expenses.
To apply, send contact information, a description of relevant experience, and an explanation outlining why you think you'd be perfect for the job to Kathryn Harvey at; .
Applications must be received by October 10, 2009.

2010 World Team Members Selected
On behalf of the Board, I am pleased to announce the team that will be representing Canada and the AAC at the IFCS Championships in 2010. The pool of applicants was large and very competitive, and the team is representative of the extraordinary talent that can be found in rings across the country.
Team members were selected on the basis of placements in the individual classes at the 2008 and 2009 Nationals. Placements generated WT points, but only clean runs in the top ten of each class earned points. If a dog competed both years, the WT score from the best of the two years was used. Only those handlers who submitted applications were considered.
Three team members and two alternates were identified for each of the four jump heights. Unfortunately, the IFCS requires that a team be locked in as of the closing date (around April 1), so alternates will not be travelling to the event unless one of the team members has to pull out prior to the closing date. Appointments to the team are subject to satisfactory measurement by three AAC judges.
Please join me in congratulating these outstanding teams, and join each of them in efforts to raise the funds necessary to support their journey to England next May.

World Team
The 2010 IFCS Championship will be held in North Somerset, England, on May 14-16, 2010.
The event will be held indoors at The Hand Equestrian Centre. Check the IFCS web site:
The host group will be UK Agility:
.
Transport regulations specific to England mean that the team will have to be selected as soon after the 2009 Nationals as possible in order to meet blood test and other health requirements.
The team (three dogs in each of four jump heights) will be selected on the basis of placements in the six individual classes at the 2008 and 2009 Nationals, with the best year's performance used to determine who goes.
Applicants must be Canadian citizens and AAC members, and must have run in at least six AAC-sanctioned trials between January 2008 and August 2009.
For trials to count, applicants must have been members at the time.
Please note that the height cut-offs for IFCS differ somewhat from those used by the AAC.
Dogs who would measure over on the IFCS scale will not be considered for the team unless they
"jumped up" into their IFCS jump height category at the AAC Nationals.
For this reason, only those dogs competing in regular classes will be considered.
For information on transporting dogs into England, check:
